A word about trucking! Just an observation. We as truck drivers live by a truth that is no longer a truth. We had a reputation of being a bunch of drug addicts, whore mongers and highway bandits. Although for a while this was true. It is no longer the fact. It is now only an opinion. The word epistemology can be used here. Epistemology is the investigation of what distinguishes justified belief from opinion. Some of the older people have a justified belief that that is true, but the younger people only believe it because others have said it. We as drivers are the only ones that can change this. Respect others and show them that you do care about them on the road as well as yourself. When talking to an officer. Dont be confrontational right off the bat. They dont know you and you dont know them. They are trained to trust no one at first. If there is a confrontation, do your best to defuse it. If that is impossible then be diplomatic but firm in your rights. Do not quote a law or right unless you know that it fits the circumstance 100 percent. It will take a lot of work from all of us to get this to work. We change our image on the road and the rest of the industry will change with it. There is a group that is worth looking at.
