The burden of proof was against indictment from the beginning because it would be so hard to demonstrate intent or negligence on Wilsons behalf. So instead, McCullough blames the news media, discredits random unnamed witnesses, excoriated social media. Nearly everything he said has likely made the situation worse. The reality is that the lack of indictment does not change the essential issue of justice. The assumption that a black man suspected of a robbery is dangerous enough to be shot is the heart of the issue. The inability of the black community to trust that police offers will not see them as immediate threats and act accordingly is the heart of the injustice involved.
