A word from the Word “Temporary or Permanent” June 28, 2013 Scripture: Psalm 48.9-14 Verse for the day: Jeremiah 31.3 “The LORD hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with loving-kindness have I drawn thee.” Additional Scripture: II Corinthians 5.6, 8; Deuteronomy 7:7-9; Romans 9:13; I John 4:19; We have several ladies in our building that once a week go over to the beauty parlor and get their hair done and every three months or so get a permanent. I once asked them, “how come you have to get a ‘permanent’ every so often? The answer is that their hair begins to lose its curl after a while and needs to be re-done with another ‘Permanent’. I think it must be misnamed, but then, there are a lot of things we call permanent which really are not permanent. Everything seems ‘permanent’ in our lives as we begin working at our first job after school, we begin to make a wage, put some money aside, even make plans for that special person and marriage. But all of a sudden something happens and circumstances change and we find it isn’t quite so permanent as we thought it was. We, (people) don’t generally like change. Someone has said that the only person who enjoys change is a wet baby. When change comes and we find ourselves not liking the new circumstances surrounding the change it can lead to depression (human point of view). When things go wrong (change), especially if there are several things in succession it is easy to become discouraged and forget God’s love. God’s love is something that does not change. Jesus came into this world to seek and to save lost sinners and the Bible tells us that we are all lost without Him. But God has promised that from eternity past that He loves man and will love Him with an “everlasting love” and that is the reason God sent Jesus to save those that He loved. The ladies hair soon begins to lose its curl but God’s love never changes for man. God has a plan and He is working it out even though we may not see how, but nonetheless He is working His eternal plan. Be encouraged God doesn’t forget you, He and His love is there whether we feel it or not because it is after all an everlasting and permanent love. UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN: WALK WITH THE KING JFW
