A word of caution regarding this water charge bizzo. If you dont pay the charge and your pressure is reduced to a trickle, you wont have central heating. This is because your heating is backed up on what is called a cold feed from your water main. This is used to give you a pressure of around 30 pounds a square inch in your boiler and heating system. If this pressure cannot be maintained, your boiler wont fire. This situation is bad enough for insulated people like me. However think about the consequences here for disabled people, pensioners and the people who genuinely cannot pay this charge. Will someone look the other way if theres a case of hypothermia because of this? Stand up people, they should have fixed the leaking supply pipes before ANY meters were installed.
