A word of encouragement – I have just come through another tough time personally. I have often struggled with depression, rejection, and self-esteem type issues. Each time I come through them God strengthens me and brings me farther along than I was before. This time I felt like He spoke to me about making sure I stay diligent with my running and weight lifting to combat the depression, but more importantly He showed me the story of Peter. When Peter saw Jesus walking on the water, he went out to him, because Jesus called him out. He was walking on the sea and then when he began to get drawn back into his concerns for daily life (sinking in the sea), reality, etc. he began to sink into the sea and Jesus had to take hold of him and rescue him. Moral – Stay strong, keep your/my eyes on Jesus, make Him Lord of our lives, follow Him, trust Him and the rest of the world won’t affect us so dramatically. The moment we/I take our eyes off of Jesus the cares and concerns of this life tend to overwhelm and consume us. I had to deal with a couple of holdout issues this Sunday that I had not fully submitted to Him and let die – desire for man’s approval and my musical choices. And now, I’m all the better for letting those things go. I am working out my own salvation with fear and trembling. I encourage you to let go, let God do in you what you cannot do for yourself!
