A word of warning when B-Paying your power bills. Ive never paid a bill late and totally hate that these power / gas companies can dictate terms and offer such a huge discount if paid before the due date - they should offer the discount all of the time!!!! I paid it on the day, as always, but was when I finished work. I didnt know that even though my date was right, the bank has a cut off time of 5pm for BPay, so the date of received payment was a day late and Ive been hit with the rest of the late fees. Trying to get it resolved with the bank, has been unsuccessful as it was paid at 6pm, it went through on their records the next morning! I received an over due notice from Simply energy - the day before it was due (is this delay notice due to Aust Post changes and not doing what they used to as well, because we certainly dont seem to get the deliveries we used to?) As soon as I got the bill, I paid it, again, within the right time frame this time! They obviously havent received the payment, today, Ive just received a letter from them dated the 20th and today is the 27th, saying that my power will be disconnected! WTF!!!! A week to get mail from Melbourne and 3 weeks to get Australia Post mail from Queensland! I will be ringing around for a better deal, Ive never had a late payment and this treatment is just not ok! Theyve made no attempt to speak to me, except for me to receive answering machine messages when I answer the phone and I hang up straight away, as you never know if its a shonky overseas call room or not!
