A year ago today, Asias Latin City, La Bella Zamboanga, was under siege. We were all caught between uncertainty and fear. We seem to have it all: abundant resources, generally fair weather, a thriving economy, low cost of living to mention a few, well except to that ever elusive peace and order. I vaguely remember a convo where someone was asking about peace and order and someone replied something like yung order lang, yung peace, well.... and shrugged. As we remember Day 1 of the 23-day Zamboanga Siege, we pray for peace, healing and order. I cannot fathom how peace can be achieved through unpeaceful means. I hope and pray that somehow the Zamboaga Siege would be a thing of the past, that finally we will achieve lasting peace through active non-violence. Lives and homes were lost, families were displaced, the economy suffered a major setback...the city is big enough for everyone to peacefully co-exist, so just chill! We are all human beings, regardless of belief, creed or color, who deserve our share of Peace-Full and stress-free lives. With gratitude, we remember everyone across the globe who generously shared with those gravely affected their time and resources. May God bless you seven times a hundredfold!
