A year ago today I lost a great friend, mentor, and leader. Max Matthew Bembridge was always an inspiration to me because his determination and confidence were so strong, but I really loved his sense of humour. I felt like I could relate to him best through comedy. Whether it was workshopping, performing, or talking abut Futurama at Finns after a show, I felt like we shared a sense of what was good humour. With the No-Nos, I often found the scenes I was most proud of were the ones that Max was laughing the hardest at. I felt like if I had made Max laugh then I was really being funny, because he always made me laugh so much, and many of my favourite moments on stage were with him. Im sharing this scene because its a great example of how Max always brought out the best in me when it came to improv. Max also says at the very end that it might be the funniest thing hes ever seen, and true or not, thats still the greatest praise I could ever receive and it truly means a lot to me that Brice and I had him laughing so hard. Today is a sad day but I think Max would want us to look back with smiles and laughter, because he brought so much of both to so many of us. I miss him dearly and still cant believe hes gone.
