A year ago today I was sitting where I am right now looking over my notes as I was about to preach a message about the people other than Jesus that was resurrected on the first Easter Sunday, and how Jesus resurrection was so powerful that every grave around his opened... we had just completed one of the hardest weeks of our personal lives and ministry lives... merely hours before this moment Shelby had lost her uncle very un expectedly, and people we had considered great friends in ministry were saying negative things about the church God was opening on this day 1 year ago, simply because God led us to plant this church not connected to any denomination... Several families had left their comfort zones and got out of their boats to join us in this mission to see people encounter Jesus at a personal level. At this point, if I am completely honest, I would tell you that I had a lot of doubt sinking in. I was wondering if anyone was going to come other than the 20-30 launch team members. A mustard seed of faith was all I had, but God says thats all we need. That day a year ago 153 people came to our first church service and 27 of them gave their hearts to Christ! Today this ministry turns 1, and in our first year of existence we have seen so many lives changed... Without help from a denomination or fund raising, God blessed us to the point we have fed over 100 hungry people, given away nearly 300 smoke detectors, gave away close to 1000 bottles of water to thirsty people on the 4th of July, purchased a generous Christmas for 12 children, given money to families facing medical uncertainty, helped locals families get through tragedies like house fires, and purchased and gave away nearly 300 Bibles. But more important than all of that we have witnessed 227 people give their hearts to Jesus Christ! I stand today with whom I believe to be the greatest people in Muhlenberg County, and say that every trial we faced to get where we are to day was 100% worth it! We have seen God move in a greater way than at least I have ever witnessed. To God be the glory and may we see even greater things in this next year :-) see ya @11!
