A year ago today, my Dad stepped into eternity and beheld the face of the One he so passionately loved, fearlessly shared with anyone who would listen and Whose word he was so voracious for that he would spend hours and hours listening to expositional deep sermons because he could not get enough of Gods word. He was tender hearted and cared for any orphan animal there was. Such a picture of my Heavenly Father. I am so thankful that God redeemed and restored our relationship which was broken when he left at the age of 10. Last year God revealed to me before he died that I had harbored an orphan spirit for 40 years when in fact the Great Redeemer had not only restored a beautiful relationship with my Dad 16 years after he left, but redeemed him, myself and my four children. So much redemption from so much brokenness. Sometimes the scars from our past can keep us from seeing all that God has done and is doing in our lives. He is indeed the God of the broken and has a deep love for the orphan. He showed me that in so many ways these words were true...I will not leave you as orphans. I will come to you. ~John 14:18 I have so much to be thankful for for my Dads godly legacy and am truly thankful that because of his witness to me, I will as the words to this song say...Wrap my arms around my Daddys neck and tell him that I love him. AND most importantly Gaze upon the throne of the King frozen in my steps. What an amazing thing to have a godly father. What an amazing blessing to know the Heavenly Father! ... He will swallow up death forever, and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces; the rebuke of His people He will take away from all the earth; for the LORD has spoken. And it will be said in that day: Behold, this is our God; we have waited for Him, and He will save us. This is the LORD; we have waited for Him; we will be glad and rejoice innHis salvation. ~Isaiah 25:8,9
