A young Dr. B. V. Pattabhiram, renowned psychiatrist and magician from Hyderabad, went to visit Swami with skepticism but turned into an ardent devotee. (He has once given a hypnosis performance on a Ugadi day in the campus of IIT Chennai during our college days and hypnotized a whole bunch of class mates on the stage). He wrote a book on Swami, titled, Mahimanvitha Murthi, meaning, embodiment of magnificence around 2011. Here is an incident mentioned in the book: There used to be an old lady named Pedda Bottu (named by Swami, meaning big Bindhi) in the ashram. She lived from the time of Shirdi Baba. She had the fortune of serving Shirdi Baba also. When that Baba closing the avatar, he told her, “You will meet again” among many other things. Later, she used tour Andhra Pradesh, performing Hari Katha (singing the stories of God). Later, when she reached Dharmavaram, she heard about Baba and went to see him in Puttaparthi. Baba spoke to her mentioning the talk they had during the previous Avatar and convinced her that he was Shirdi Sai himself. Since that incident, that saintly lady lived till her final days in the Ashram near Swami. She had the rare fortune of serving both Baba avatars. Whenever Baba used to come to us (Pattabhiram and friends), she would try to enter the shed that we were staying but the volunteers would not allow her. One particular day, she went in the way of Swami while he was coming and angrily said, “When I come to see you daily, you would not even look at me. Have I become cheap since I left everything for you and came? Whenever I come running to you, you would stylishly walk go away quickly. However, you give darshan to these new youngsters and talk with them. You are pampering this son of Sathyanarayana (Pattabhiram), who has come just recently”. Baba laughed at this and said, “Look Pedda Bottu, if I tell you to jump into Chitravati river, would you do it or not?” “Why won’t I?”, she replied immediately. Baba said, “If I tell the same thing to this Pattabhi, the son of Sathyanarayana, he won’t jump, on the other hand, he would tell me to jump and walk away. That is why I keep engaging with him in talk just like that. Once he becomes like you, I will talk to someone else” and added one more thing. “You are so jealous of this Pattabhi. But do you know he is? He was you son-in-law in your last birth. Then you had troubled him so much. You never gave him any new clothes for any festival. You give him new clothes for this Dussera. ”, he said laughing. That poor lady actually gave Dr. Pattabhiram new clothes, that Dussera.
