A young girl plopped down on the curb in front of my house about an hour ago and started playing a ukulele she had been carrying. She played a couple tunes I didnt recognize, then started playing and singing Louis Armstrongs What a Wonderful World. No, not the Somewhere Over the Rainbow version, the original. I went out, sat my overjoyed self down next to her, and proceeded to sing along. Turns out, she lives down the street in a very full house with 6 brothers, both parents, and 2 sets of aunts and uncles. Thats 13 people in one very small home. She said she walks by on her way to and from school everyday and loves to hear the music that I often play in the afternoons. She asked if it was alright to sit there and take a little music break to calm her nerves and I said OF COURSE! She told me that I was a very nice neighbor because I always smile and wave when Im outside and people walk by. I told her any time she wants to get away from the chaos of her hectic household, she can always come sit in my yard and play her ukulele. I really really hope I get to hear and see that sweet soul again. Lindsay LaTourette you would have died with happiness.
