AACI Netanya hosts its first Conceture. ‘What’s a Conceture’, I here you ask. A Conceture is a Concert and Lecture combined. The subject matter of this AACI Netanya Conceture this coming Thursday 6 Feb is the Jewish influence in the history of Broadway. Dorit Sapir is well suited to present such a Conceture: A native New Yorker she has an amazing knowledge of the development of Broadway over the years. She also happens to possess a powerful knockout voice, warm personality and a great sense of humor. She will guide you through the history of Broadway chronologically with the emphasis on the many talented Jewish Composers that have influenced and shaped its development. How many of you know for instance that West Side Story was originally to be called East Side Story! True, but because at the time it was not fashionable to produce musicals with a Jewish theme it was decided to change it to a Puerto Rican theme. Fast forward a number of years and with a change of perspective, look at the success of ‘Fiddler on the Roof’. Combined with recounting the interesting story of Jewish Broadway, Dorit along with the Ben Rich Combo, led by the talented musical director/guitarist Roy Rich, will perform many wonderful numbers, including ‘It Ain’t Necessarily so’, ‘Matchmaker’, Everything is coming up Roses (remember Ethel Merman) and I promise you many, many more great songs that you will love to sing-a-long to. The Ben Rich Combo is also proud to have guest saxophone/ clarinet player Kobi Salomon playing with them. Kobi is one of Israel’s most talented sax and clarinet players. He regularly accompanies well known international artists that perform in Israel. So come and enjoy your first Conceture at the AACI Netanya. All of the above entertainment package for only 60 NIS members (including refreshments). See you there! AACI 28 Shmuel Hanaziv Netanya. Box office 09 833 0950
