AAIs partners on the ground indicate that damage caused by Typhoon Hagupit (Ruby) is moderate. In areas around Leyte, Samar, and Masbate some communities require more food and shelter assistance and are otherwise coping well. The slower than expected speed of the typhoon, whilst welcome, has brought with it more rain and for a longer period, which has led to flooding and landslides in some areas. Winds up to 100km/h are still being recorded and have already caused damage to some structures and crops.
