AAM AADMI PARTY supports RTI "Right to Information - TopicsExpress

AAM AADMI PARTY supports RTI "Right to Information Act"applicable in All Political Parties. Aam Aadmi Party from the beginning has been a strong proponent of transparency and accountability in political parties. It demanded that all political parties should disclose their source of funding and expenditures to the public. Accordingly, AAP has put all its financial details on the website. It is a welcome decision by the Central Information Commission (CIC) to bring six national political parties under the purview of the Right to Information Act. As per section 2 (h) of the Act any agency or institution receiving government largess can be declared as a public authority and is bound to follow the provisions of the act. This judgment will no doubt strengthen the democracy by ensuring transparency and accountability from the political parties. It will also prevent parties to take support from questionable sources and thereby prevent the political-business-criminal nexus. We strongly condemn the political parties who oppose the decision of the CIC which was long overdue. This only strengthens the public perception that the political parties are corrupt and are not open to public scrutiny. We appeal to the public to be vigilant about the stand of the political parties and denounce them if they join together to defeat this historic judgment of the information commission in any round about manner. In solidarity of the judgment, AAP will be organizing a rally on 8th June Saturday at 5 PM from Vani Vihar to Master Canteen. In this context, we appeal to the State Information Commission (SIC) to take sou-motto cognizance of the decision and declare the regional political parties as public authorities. It should order the political parties to declare their public information officer and prepare the sou-motto disclosure as per the requirement of section 4 of the transparency act within a definite period.
