AAP creates a scene after Arvind Kejriwal drama NEW DELHI: A few hundred Aam Aadmi Party supporters threw traffic in west Delhi out of gear on Wednesday evening as they assembled outside Tihar Jail to protest against the arrest of their chief, Arvind Kejriwal. By late evening, the 6km stretch between Jail Road and Cariappa Marg was jammed and two ambulances were stuck for over an hour. Traffic also crawled on the Tilak Nagar main road and Pankha Road. Outside Tihar, AAP supporters clashed with police on being asked to move out of the high-security area. In the tussle, several persons were injured on both sides. Many AAP supporters were taken into custody and arrested late in the evening. They have been charged with obstructing government servants in discharging their duty, rioting and other sections of IPC. The drama unfolded outside Tihar around 7pm. Joint commissioner of police Tejender Luthra told TOI that Section 144 (ban on assembly of five or more persons) was imposed in the area in the evening to maintain law and order. However, around 100 protesters led by AAP leaders Manish Sisodia, Yogendra Yadav and Sanjay Singh assembled outside the jails gate number 3. They carried placards stating Gadkari chor hai and shouted anti-BJP slogans. When police couldnt make them leave peacefully, they used force. Is sitting on the footpath a crime? We have peacefully assembled here but are being treated in this manner, said Yogendra Yadav who was hit on the head while being evicted. AAP leader Sanjay Singh was also roughed up. AAP tweeted at 7.22pm: Police forcefully remove all AAP supporters from outside Tihar Jail. Many detained. Police deployment was increased outside Tihar as AAP supporters continued to pour in till late evening. By 9pm, around 200 people had gathered at all the gates of the jail. The detained protesters were taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital for medical examination late in the evening. An FIR was being registered at Hari Nagar police station at the time of filing this report. timesofindia.indiatimes/city/delhi/AAP-creates-a-scene-after-Arvind-Kejriwal-drama/articleshow/35446147.cms
