AATWs August 4 song-a-day takes us all the way to the Pacific - TopicsExpress

AATWs August 4 song-a-day takes us all the way to the Pacific where we join the Cook Islands in celebrating the anniversary of the 1965 signing of its Constitution, which solidified its formal separation from the British. The day features phenomenal group dance performances and singing and dancing competitions. The holiday, initially known by the way-too-boring name, Constitution Day, got a Maori makeover in 2001 when the Prime Minister called for its rebranding as Te Maeva Nui, which means, in Cook Islands Maori, the most important celebration. And it is! Today we sing Te Pua Noa Noa, a song about the beautiful flowers in the Pacific that isnt quite from the Cook Islands, but from its Polynesian neighbor, Tahiti. LISTEN HERE: bit.ly/1tOQkss
