ABC NEWS mentioned a fragment of an ancient manuscript which quotes Jesus as talking about his wife. This manuscript fragment carbon 14 dates between the 4th to 8th centuries A.D.--at the least 300 years after Jesus lived. No scholar today--liberal or conservative-- doubts that the biblical gospels were written in the century in which Jesus lived. All seminary graduates know that in the centuries after Christ imaginative stories were made up, sort of novels, about Jesus. One has the child Jesus striking his playmates dead. Things like this are not surprising. Egypt, where this fragment was found, was also a hotbed of Gnosticism, a teaching that spirit is good and the created world is bad,,or is a figment of our imagination. It is ultimately based in the philosophy of Plato. Gnostics were clearly based in a non-Jewish tradition. Some were clearly against all things Jewish. Christianity clearly was founded by Jews, so Gnosticism does not date back to Jesus. This may be the source of this scroll fragment. I will research it. If you find out answer on this tread. I will do another post on the reliability of the gospels. This one is getting long.
