ABC News reports that the Capitol Building and the White House are on lockdown after gunfire was exchanged between an unidentified suspect and Capitol Hill Police. Reporting live from the White House, ABC News reporter Jonathan Karl reports that a car reportedly rammed the barricades outside the White House before fleeing and igniting a police chase. ABC News began by reporting that they have unconfirmed indications that a suspect has been neutralized after shots were exchanged outside the Capitol Bridling. A car chase occurred after a car rammed a barrier outside the White House. The gate which was rammed is not often used by visitors and is usually used by staffers and Treasury Department officials. Karl concluded by reporting that cars hitting the White House barricades outside the gates are not an uncommon occurrence. Occasionally, a drunk or disoriented driver will inadvertently impact the barrier. He cautioned viewers that this car may not have intentionally targeted the White House. The suspect has not yet been identified, but is reportedly female. No other individuals have been implicated in this shooting event by police.
