ABDUCTED HORTICULTURE OFFICIALS RESCUED Manipuri News Headline Imphal, August 13, 2013 . Manipur police has rescued the two abducted Manipur horticulture department officials from the clutches of the abductors today. State’s Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam informed this while speaking to media persons at Congress Bhavan in Imphal this evening. The two officials of the horticulture department-farm manager M Priyokumar (56) and his colleague officer W Ipopishak (50) were rescued around 3.30 am, according Gaikhangam who also holds the home portfolio.However he did not elaborate on how and where the rescue operations took place. He added that the police also came to know that the officials were detained by Kuki Revolutionary Army (U), armed group operating in Sadar hills area in Manipur’s Senapati district. Assuring that necessary action will be taken against the involved armed group after consulting the Joint Monitoring Group,he also warned not to repeat such acts in the future. The whereabouts of the two horticulture officials M Priyokumar and W Ipopishak (50) were not known after their abduction somewhere in Kanglatongbi area on August 8 afternoon. They were abducted on their way to Imphal from Senapati dstrict headquarters in a car. Source: Manipur Update
