ABOLITION OF THE CALIPHATE, 3 MARCH 1924 Caliphate (Khilafa) was abolished in 3 March 1924 and this decision was announced to the Khalifa Abdulmejid Effendi the same day by the Governor of Istanbul and the Chief of Police. 155 members of the Ottoman Dynasty was expelled from Turkey with these law of the abolition of Caliphate.
