ABOUT GO SOUTH! Since the days of David Ben Gurion, the Negev has captured the imagination of passionate Zionists. Covering 66 percent of Israel’s land mass, but only 8 percent of its population, the Negev represents a major opportunity for Olim. So much of the area’s burgeoning success has been due to the efforts of immigrants from across the globe, yet Olim from western countries have yet to capitalize on the opportunities of Israel’s south. Israel’s south presents a wealth of opportunities which make it an ideal option for English speaking Olim, including expanding communities, burgeoning industries and cutting edge education. The Go South program is an ambitious initiative offering enhanced services and financial benefits* to Olim interested in moving to Israel’s Southern communities. These enhancements coupled with Go South based dedicated Nefesh B’Nefesh community and employment specialists will enable Olim to have a smoother and more solid integration thereby creating a successful and solid Southern Aliyah experience. This project is made possible by the Keren Kayemet L’Yisrael, Jewish National Fund, The Jewish Agency for Israel, the Ministry for Immigrant Absorption. Eligibility for Financial Assistance* Applicants for financial assistance must be residents of either the United States, Canada or the United Kingdom. Financial assistance is awarded to individuals or families based on financial need. Applicants who are assessed as having sufficient funds for Aliyah will not be awarded financial assistance. If you are unsure as to whether or not you qualify for financial assistance, please feel free to contact the Go South Director, Ravit Greenberg, via email ([email protected]) before submitting the addendum. Applicants must NOT have made Aliyah previously. Grants will only be awarded to applicants who have been approved for Aliyah by the Jewish Agency. An in-person or Skype meeting with Go South staff is a pre-requisite to completing the Go South application. We strongly believe that a Pilot Trip is one of the most critical tools for planning a successful Aliyah. As such, a Pilot Trip to the South is strongly recommended as part of your Aliyah research.
