**ABOUT KEVINCE ODIERO(continued)** I happened to have a pair of clothes which acted both as my school uniform and home clothes. After school I would take it off and walk with pants. Life at home was sometimes unbearable. I can remember how a time when hunger struck. My step-mother would pick some plants leaves in the image of vegetables, cooked it without oil, added pepper and ate it without ugali(dough). Life had to continue. Epidemics, one after the other, befell us. At a time lice infected us all over the body. Jiggers followed and since there were no shoes to wear, my toes each pointed at its own direction and they would swell so badly. People reminded us that jiggers infection was a sign of clever children. All that was life. Now at home, washing utensils, cooking, sweeping, fetching water and firewood, bathing my young ones was my daily compulsory task. This trained me so much....(to be continued).
