ABelmont Street woman whose Chihuahua was killed Monday by a pit bull fears for her children and her other pets if the dog is allowed to remain in her neighborhood, and believes the breed should not be permitted in the city. Lorie Akers plans to ask the city commission to ban pit bulls and said she would gather petition signatures of like-minded people. A neighbor told her the same dog had attacked another dog in the neighborhood, she said. Akers herself has seen the dog loose a number of times, she said." If you know the owners have a history of incidents with their dogs why insist on a breed ban?
