ACC Championship 2014 Called Off The Asian Cricket Council - TopicsExpress

ACC Championship 2014 Called Off The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is set to call off the ACC Championship which has been slated for December 7-14 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The ACC Championship – featuring the top four teams from the ACC Premier League -- is a two-day tournament which was going to be introduced for the first time by the regional cricket governing body. Nepal had finished third in the ACC Premier League, held in Malaysia from May 1-7 this year, won by Afghanistan. UAE had finished second while Oman ended up fourth. The ACC is yet to make any official confirmation about the cancellation but a source said that the unavailability of Afghanistan and the UAE has forced them to call off the tournament. Afghanistan and UAE are currently undergoing the ICC High Performance Programme for the 2015 World Cup beginning from February in Australia and New Zealand. Both teams have also confirmed their unavailability for a tour of Sri Lanka in November where the island country had initially planned to host the two teams along with Nepal and Hong Kong.
