ACCENT MODIFICATION: Young teachers across the UK are being told to tone down their regional accents new research suggests. A study by The University of Manchester found that trainees were being made to feel their regional accents were inappropriate for education and equated to them speaking unclearly. One student even reported being openly laughed at for the way she spoke. Should how we sound bear any reflection on our ability to teach?
