ACCIDENT. Two cargo vessels collide off Xiamen. The Chinese cargo ship Hai Run 607 has collided with the 23,324-DWT Hansa Siegburg off Xiamen, China. The accident occurred late yesterday southeast of Qingyu Island, according to Chinas Donghai Rescue Bureau (DRB). The Hai Run 607 was carrying sands and had 6 sailors on board. Following the accident, the Chinese cargo vessel began to take in water and started sinking. Five of its crew members were rescued by a nearby vessel while the sixth one was pulled out of the water by Donghai Rescue Bureau team. The DRB dispatched to the scene the rescue vessel Dong Hai Jiu 116. Currently, there is no information about the fate of Hai Run 607. The cause of the accident is yet to be defined. Hansa Siegburg (IMO number 9401661 and MMSI 636092574) was built in 2008 and is registred in Liberia.The 166-metre vessel has a capacity of 1,704 TEUs. posted by KNMI/Atmojo nur source;VF
