ACTION ALERT: Support Educators at LA Charter School in Winning First Union Contract Please sign and share the petition linked below to support your newly-unionized colleagues at Ivy Academia Entrepreneurial Charter School in Los Angeles. With 95% support, teachers and counselors at Ivy Academia, a K-12 charter school on three campuses in the San Fernando Valley, organized a union and joined the United Teachers Los Angeles in December of last year. Now Ivy educators are negotiating their first union contract where teachers want to secure comparable rights, conditions, salary and benefits that 90% of LA teachers – both district and charter – already have including: * Voice for teachers on issues that affect the classroom * Just Cause and Due Process Rights * Community standard for salary and benefits * Pay for duties and hours of work * Fair evaluation system To date, the Ivy administration has taken a bargaining position to maintain the current “at will” employment policy, meaning they can discipline or fire any teacher: * Without a reason * Without notice * Without recourse Ivy teachers are standing up and demanding just cause and due process rights, and they need our support. The next Ivy Academia Board meeting is August 22. The board needs to see that educators across LA are standing with Ivy teachers and for our profession.
