ACTIONS IN NOVEMBER ¤CONFLUENCE QUEENS FIX SCREENING FOR NOVEMBER 4¤ The management of Confluence Queens Football Club has declared November 4, 2013 as the take-off date for its open screening exercise in Lokoja. The Lokoja-based Nigeria Women Professional League side also fixed Saturday 3rd November, 2013 as the resumption date for the club’s officials and players. ¤UAE FIFA U-17 WORLD CUP ENDS¤ The Ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup in United Arab Emirate will end on friday November 8, 2013 at Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi. The Golden Eaglet is backed to go all the way and clinch the trophy based on their performances so far in the competition. ¤NNL SUPER FOUR TO BEGIN NOVEMBER 12¤ Abuja - The Nigeria National League (NNL) on Thursday said the Super Four will be hosted at the FIFA Goal Project pitch of the Abuja National Stadium from November 12 to November 14. The NNL secretary, Lawrence Katken, said in a statement in Abuja that the four clubs which qualified for the competition from the just-ended 2012/2013 season would take part. To produce the true champions of the 2012/2013 season, NNL has told the four clubs which secured promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) to prepare for the Super Four. The clubs are Giwa FC of Jos and FC Taraba of Jalingo from Group A, and Abia Warriors FC of Umuahia and Crown FC of Ogbomoso from Group B,” he said. The statement also quoted the NNL Board Chairman, Emeka Inyama, as saying the league would soon be registered as a limited liability company in accordance with international best practices. As part of the changes in the administration of the league, we have approached the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) to grant us the power to register the NNL as a limited liability company with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). Now, the approval has been given and we will commence the registration process immediately. The registration will enable the NNL to attract corporate sponsorship and private sector participation in the promotion of the league,’’ the statement quoted Inyama to have stated. It said Inyama further announced that the NNL Board had concluded plans to introduce branded match balls for the use of participating clubs in the 2013/2014 season. The introduction of the branded match balls is part of the innovations promised by the NNL to make the league the envy of other leagues in the world. Arrangements have been concluded with a company to supply the items, which the NNL will in turn supply to the participating clubs.’’ ¤NPFL: KADUNA TO HOST SUPER FOUR¤ The League Management Company is finalizing plans to move this seasons Super Four Tournament Kaduna. A top official of LMC Salihu Abubakar confirmed this, adding that the date for the tournament must be maintained. Kaduna is the likely venue to host Super Four because thats the city we are working on now. For now let me say Kaduna will host Super Four between October 28 and November 3, Abubakar said. According to Abubakar, the Super Four is to fulfill what is in the league statute. The Super Four will not decide who win the league. It is just a competition we organise as the league statute said, so it is organised to follow the rule, he concluded. Defending champions Kano Pillars, Bayelsa United, Enyimba, Bayelsa United and El Kanemi Warriors are finished in the top four spots to qualify for this pre-season tourney. Heartland won last years Super Four, which was hosted by Kano. Kano Pillars lost 0-2 to Lobi Stars of Makurdi on the final day of the season but went ahead to clinch the title on 63 points after their closest rivals Bayelsa United lost 0-1 to Gombe United on the same day. Technical Adviser of Pillars, Coach Mohammed Baba Ganaru confirmed that Pillars were yet to be handed the prestigious trophy. He however said his team may be awarded the trophy at the forthcoming Super 4 competition billed for Kaduna. “We are yet to receive the trophy but what matters to us is that we are the reigning champions of the NPL. We won it back to back and we are already looking ahead for more glories”, he said. When contacted, a top official of the League Management Company, LMC, Mallam Salisu Abubakar said Pillars will receive their trophy on the opening day of the Super 4.
