ACTIVIST SPOTLIGHT (USA): When more than 270 girls were kidnapped from a school in Chibok, Nigeria, earlier this year, University of Texas dance senior Tawny Garcia was shocked to see how quickly the story left the media spotlight. This story, as well as other stories of violence against women, became the inspiration for Garcia’s dance production, “Gone,” which debuted as part of the Department of Theatre and Dance’s annual “Fall for Dance” program.
