ACTIVITY REPORT SUMMARY Activity: Chapter Meeting Date: 1/22/15 Location: Civil Engineering Building - Room 201 Attendance: Students: 10 Faculty: 0 Faculty Advisor: 1 Practitioner Advisor: 0 Other: 0 Report Prepared By: Carissa Yedica (Secretary) Activity Summary: Annual Report: -Thank you for all who participated in writing the annual report it is completed. -We are ready to turn it in by the deadline. Bridge: -How many people can attend the conference this year April 16-19th---( people?) -What is the progress on the bridge and who can help further- meeting in two weeks-need to order the steel -Advise from the practitioner advisors is about finished we are on our own and ready to build Culverts: -We had previously entered of the field data into an excel spreadsheet. -We used our calculated flow rates and our cross section in HEC-RAS to create the first most downstream culvert and evaluated different size culverts at a 10 year flood event to see at what point the water started over toping the road. -We will continue with the second and third culverts in future meetings and final decide on a size for the culvert at different locations. -We will be meeting again in two weeks to continue the work-plan on a bit longer of a meeting for that Extras: -Who all is going to the regional conference (Kayla and Jessica) -The individuals attending will be going via plane instead of driving as originally anticipated. -Public Policy Forum January 28th at 12-1 pm in the CE building. It will be very informational and there will be FREE PIZZA -Engineering Social coming up keep a lookout! (Feb 24th?)-National Engineering Week -Are people interested in helping out with the PEAK kids next week or the week after -We will just be presenting (30 min) and talking about working as a team with the kids (quick and simple) -Advice for their team work and boat project at hand and reaching a goal etc. -If so contact Gary or Kayla ASAP Activity Assessment: Our first meeting back was successful. We covered a lot of details and have put together a tentative plan for the future activities within the club. Our community outreach and projects are looking healthy but could use a little more participation where we can afford it. Suggestions for the Future None
