ACTOR OF THE DAY: IN HONOR OF FATHERS DAY- ANDY GRIFFITH Andy Griffith deserves this honor due to being one of the most beloved father figures on tv of all time. He was firm but yet gentle with his son, Opie. He shared tender moments with Opie, offering his wise advice when needed. He knew the importance of not only giving out advice but also living the example of what a man should be. Not only was he an honorable man as his character on the show, he also was in reality. Ron Howard had great respect and love for Andy Griffith. What a fortunate young man to have two wonderful fathers in Andy and his own dad! When we view the episodes of The Andy Griffith Show we see a life that is simple and serene. Small town living with values to live by. Opie may not have had the traditional up bringing of a household with a mother and father. Instead he had a strong father who compensated for the loss of his mother. He also had Aunt Bea to help out with raising him. Andy Taylor may have been Mayberrys Sheriff but he was first and foremost Opies father. He always made time for him when he would drop by to see his Pa at his work place. And because of this, I have chosen Andy Griffith/Andy Taylor as my choice of father to be honored today!
