ACTS Chap. 25 cont. – TERESA’S EASY RENDITION 13 After some days, King Agrippa and Bernice came to Caesarea to pay a courtesy visit to Festus. 14 When they had been there many days, Festus mentioned the case of Paul to the king, saying: “There’s a certain prisoner left by Felix. 15 And when I went to Jerusalem, the chief priests and the Jewish leaders there brought many charges against, and even asked me to condemn him. 16 But I told them that it’s not the custom of the Romans to pass sentence on anyone without giving him due process. 17 So when they all came together, I lost no time. The very next day, I sat on the judgment seat and ordered that the man be brought in. 18 At the witness stand, the accusers failed to produce the evidence I was expecting against him. 19 They had but simple conflicts with him about religion, and about a certain Jesus who had died, but Paul claims he’s alive. 20 Since I don’t have the answer to such questions, I asked him if he would like to go to Jerusalem and there be judged about these matters. 21 But Paul appealed to let Caesar decide his case. Thus I gave orders that he be kept under guard until such time I send him to Caesar.” 22 Agrippa answered: “I would like to hear the man myself.” Festus answered: “Tomorrow you’ll hear him.” 23 The next day, Agrippa and Bernice came with great pomp and ceremony. They entered the audience hall with military commanders and honorable men of the city. At Festus’ command, Paul was brought in. 24 Festus said: “King Agrippa and all who are here with us, this is the man whom all the Jews, in Jerusalem and here, have judged, screaming that he doesn’t deserve to live any longer. 25 But I believe he did nothing wrong deserving of death. So when this man appealed to the Caesar, I decided to send him. 26 Since I’ve nothing to write my Lord about him, I brought him before you, and especially before you, King Agrippa, that I may have something to write after this investigation. 27 For to me, it seems unreasonable to send a suspect without indicating the charges against him.” End of Chapter 25
