ADIZ: JAPAN-US JOINT LETTER TO CHINA- TO FREE RIDE We should praise the joint efforts of the US and Japan. And South Korea is still out there enjoying the “free lunch”. Though the ICAO s opinion is not a legal binding one, but if it found the East Asia ADIZ does not meet “international Standards ” , its recommendation for China will be a major moral and psychological victory for Japan in its intractable dispute with China. If the ICAO finds China cannot enforce its will on the airspace that it has no jurisdiction, it will also be served as a powerful preemptive force to deter Chinas further contemplation of establishing another ADIZ over the South China Sea. Chinas unilateral action has again faced another legal challenge from an international institution, an important testing to see how “ Beijing should “actively influence the formulation of the new rules as the GLOBAL TIMES has claimed lately. By now Beijing should have known that any attempt to alter the status quo in Asia Pacific will be first challenged by legal process if that dispute resolution mechanism made available by an international body. China will not get a free ride. (urly.fi/ccV)
