ADMIN ANNOUNCEMENT - During this last week I have been giving serious thought as to what the group should do following the Murder of Tanis Bandhari, who, although not being a qualified Submariner, certainly has serious claim to association with us. I have received numerous PMs including the following pm from a friend of his (copied here with his permission) which has made my decision easier.... PM Just thought I would keep you in the loop about Tanis Bandhari. I joined up with him and did my smq dry and uc course with him, unfortunately he failed sett and went general service. His Brother left as a UC1 and his Dad was a TI back in the 80/90s. I dont mind paying for a wreath for him when the time comes just wanted to make sure it was ok to put from all of us on it. Will keep you updated as the whole of Plymouth are in shock as to what these cowards did on New Years Eve. I have previously stated that our WE REMEMBER SUBMARINERS wreath motto can be taken two ways...in the first instance an obvious straightforward statement to show solidarity with a deceased Submariner. But it can also be taken as a wreath sent FROM the group WE REMEMBER SUBMARINERS - To those we consider deserving. The precedent for this was set on the death of Drummer Rigby when Scott Taylor laid such a wreath on our behalf. I have also made it clear that I reserve the right to decide what this group does with the money raised, but I assure you this is done having taken advice from fellow admins and trusted senior members.(You may or may not know that there is a Secret facebook page which contains a steering group for this group)..anyway I digress... I think it acceptable and reasonable for us to send a wreath in this instance, the person above will be using the money he was going to put aside for a wreath (In our name!) as a donation to whatever charity the family choose. In this way I think that WE AS A GROUP, can express OUR solidarity with a Submarine Family with generational service - and with a young man who wished to be one of us and nearly was, being unable to do so through no fault of his own. Accordingly I shall be sending a Wreath and Condolence card on behalf of the Group.
