Please consider a RECURRING DONATION for ongoing adoption support of these desperate dogs HERE: k9aid.org/donations/ There is a dreadful trade in illegally shipped stolen pets & street dogs over the Mekong river from Thailand to Vietnam for food.The dogs are rounded up, stuffed 10 or 12 into a small crate then taken by truck on the long journey by their thousands. Many die on route from thirst or suffocation, those that survive are tortured then killed. Local belief is that torturing the animal before death makes the meat tender. Thousands of dogs have been rescued from this trade and now live in shelters in Northern Thailand, living in concrete runs each containing around 300 dogs. Life here is very tough and only the strongest survive. Many die from disease and sadly the timid ones sometimes die in dog fights. Thankfully some of these dogs are lucky enough to find new homes both in Thailand and abroad. K9Aid have helped send some of these dogs to loving, forever homes in countries like USA, Canada, UK & Europe. The costs involved in transporting these dogs abroad can sometimes be high, so your donations help ensure these dogs can travel to their homes abroad & help adopters afford the journey.
