ADVICE NEEDED for Special Mom #psnm00308 I need some suggestions. My son will be 7 in 2 months. We strongly believe he has APD (auditory processing disorder) and that he is on the spectrum (we are currently in the process of getting him tested) he has developmental disorders and a strong speech delay. How do we get him to follow directions? He can repeat back what we tell him, we have visual aides, and yet he still ends up just doing what he wants and disregards the rules. We ask him what he is supposed to be doing and he will correctly answer, and yet he is not doing it. Could this be ODD? Weve tried reward charts, sticker charts, treasure boxes, happy and sad face charts, spanking, losing privileges/ toys...But nothing works. Hes even been in behavioral therapy and PCIT (Parent-Child intervention therapy) we are at a loss, repeatedly telling him is useless and showing him is only temporary, like 2 minutes. We just dont know what else to do. I will also be posting this on the APD page I have joined. Thank you for your help
