ADVISORY ON SUSPICIOUS PACKAGE: At approximately 6:30 a.m., Monday, September 27th, our deputies were sent to the BP Amoco Plant, Finley Island Road, Decatur, in reference to a suspicious package. The package appeared to be a burlap sack, with UPS writings and an open box within. Tracking and conferring with UPS, determined this was four of like boxes, three of which made its destination to Miami, Fl. All boxes contained the same equipment, which were metal shock cylinders for heavy doors. Pre-cautionary measures were taken, all non-essential plant personnel were evacuated out of the plant. Any and all liquid or gaseous containers were set outside a 250 yard perimeter. Huntsville bomb squad was called to the scene to confirm that this was not any explosive device. They arrived on the scene, and the suspicious package was in no way an explosive device. The package has been removed and is in the hands of the Huntsville bomb squad and our deputies will be clearing the scene momentarily.
