AFC Leopards’ moved to second on the log with 44 points disloding Sofapaka, after a late resurgence saw them overcome a spirited Karuturi Sports 1-0 at Kasarani on Thursday. Ingwe were lackluster in first half performance but after pep talk from coach James Nandwa, improved in second period to play a more attacking game. Karuturi Sports took most of the possession in first period but unluckily never did much in front of goal to replicate their possession. The only time they came close was in 23rd minute when Joseph Mwangi’s shot went just wide of Martin Musalia’s goal. Leopards’ had two decent chances, first Noah Wafula sending the ball screaming high over the bar from the right after an incisive pass from Paul Were. Abdallah Juma also saw his free-kick cleared off the line by Geoffrey Msiebe after it evaded keeper Michael Wanyika. John Kiplangat forced Martin Musalia to a great save towards the end of the half with a shot from, the right which the keeper parried away. In the second period, Leopards created chance after chance but were never lucky to score. Allan Wanga had a shot go just wide on 55 minutes after a pass from Noah Wafula which he controlled and laid off well. On the 60th minute, Leopards had a superb chance but Paul Were was unlucky, slipping and falling in the box after a great pass from Peter Opiyo. Opiyo was once again provider, feeding Were, who in turn cut in a cross for Allan Wanga. However, his tap from the cross went wide. The goal finally came for Leopards’ with three minutes to play, Wanga lifting the ball over an advancing Michael Wanyika, to give his side the much needed three points.
