AFFIRMATION: YOU ARE A GOD SENT BLESSING! Affirmation: AFFIRM, v.t. afferm L. affirmo; ad and firmo, to make firm. See Firm. 1. To assert positively; to tell with confidence; to aver; to declare the existence of something; to maintain as true; opposed to deny. I am humbly learning about this word and the action of it. I have a dear Friend who is always affirming their love and devotion and kindness to me. I have not been around people who want, need or give affirmations so it was a little hard to receive at first. I felt quite awkward hearing it. And was not sure what to do with it. So I would smile and say, Oh, ok, thank you. Not really an appropriate response. Then I got to wondering about affirmation in the Word. While the actual word affirmation is not in the Word, KJV, affirm is there six times, affirmed, three times. And they werent really what I was looking for. So I had to think of actual affirmations in the Word. In Matthew 3:16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: 17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, THIS IS MY BELOVED SON IN WHOM I AM WELL PLEASED. Matthew 17:1 And after six days Jesus take Peter, James, and John his brother, and bring them up into an high mountain apart, 2 And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. 3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. 4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. 5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, THIS IS MY BELOVED SON IN WHOM I AM WELL PLEASED; hear ye him. 6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. 7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid. Our Father God affirmed his Son Jesus and we are to affirm each other. We are to encourage, lift up, assure and appreciate one another. While some may say it with words, I like to think I do it with my actions, with kindness, without actually having to say, Gee, you are a nice person. However, maybe I need to work on that and follow the example set by Father God who affirmed with Words. Maybe I will start saying, This is my Brother or Sister in Christ Jesus in whom I am well pleased. Or maybe I had better just tell them how special they are to me. I love you. I appreciate you. Everyone of you are so very special in your own way as I pray I am to you also. There, how was that? 1 Thessalonians 4:18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. God bless you.
