AFGHANISTAN 17 year old, teenage bride was strangled to death three days after her marriage in Baghlan province. Also, last week in Pul-e-Khumri town of Baghlan province, a man sold two of his newborn twins to a stranger after his wife died in childbirth, as he said he could not afford to take care of them. Afghanistan is slowly taking more steps to prosecute men who abuse, rape, murder women and children, but it will take a long time. In the meantime one of the best ways to continue to empower women and give them rights, honor and protection is girls education.
