AFRICA EMPOWERED COMMUNITIES-USA Goal: Promoting viable and productive cross-border collaboration between USA-Africa. The Four Over-arching Strategic Themes: 1. To form ourselves into a registered African-Development focused team of persons based in North America, Africa and other parts of the world. 2. To formulate and promote a rolled business plan in which persons from/of USA, Canada, Caribbean, South American, European and Africa meet, share and create mutually beneficial enterprises. 3. To work with California, Massachusetts, Texas (and other states) chambers of Commerce, with the goal of creating social, cultural, trade, business, tourism, technology/educational exchange. 4. Form a professional and formal representation around development and self help themes with California State. Objectives: 1. Coordination hub, promote cross-border collaboration, bridging and strengthening linkage between Africa-USA and USA-Africa. 2. Improve interpersonal skills of all beneficiaries. 3. Work with California Chamber of Commerce, seek to make what makes American great replicated in African communities. I. Description: We seek to forge community interest in social development and tap into the potential California State (or entire USA) offers for enterprise, commerce, education, health and well-being. As well we hope to establish partnerships, avenues and mechanisms for information flow, training and attendance at conference, exhibitions, fares and shows in may parts of the world. We propose a big “deal” whose components are: 1. Designing community mobilization strategies that foster continued, regular and planned participation by beneficiaries at/in various activities. Part of the activities will be disseminating information about opportunities, educate communities and provide communication on what is available and trends. 2. Engage in events that bring people of diverse background together. 3. Address opportunities for training or drop-in/ drop-by for individual beneficiaries or other smaller viable groups. This twinning will be an opportunity to share experiences and have mentored input by technical experts. 4. Leadership programs will be a key component for us. These will cover: social relations skills; business start-ups; network/movement building; confidentiality/privacy affirming skills; social marketing and branding. This component will be informed mostly from needs assessment outcomes. II. Other related Activities: 1. Establish chapters in Massachusetts and Texas. 2. Policy Dialogue/Follow-up activities informed by action plans at various spaces in and outside of America. It is envisaged that this will be an opportunity to share experiences with given policy challenges regarding development, its demand and supply for beneficiaries. 3. Feed-back mechanism to policy makers and community leaders who help in preparing policy. III. Expected Outcomes/Results: a) African Empowered Communities leading in identifying, guiding and positioning beneficiaries to access trade, business and development opportunities in USA, Africa and other parts of the world. b) Community-led policy Action Plans on social development. c) Increased general awareness on development, politics and technical issues. d) Provide opportunities for leaders to learn first hand information, thereby promote sound policy formulation and implementation. d) Committing time and resources towards promoting viable and productive cross-border collaboration between USA-Africa. IV. Contribution to assimilation, citizen responsibilities and integration: a) The program will substantially strengthen individual beneficiaries roles and participation development oriented practices. It will help deepen impact of information. It is our hope that this will be a model envisaged for replication and expansion. b) Program will ensure that policy makers, program implementers and community leaders become more familiar with key issues affecting communities informed by diversity, beliefs and multicultural basis. They will be in a better position to evaluate options and make critical decisions. V. Gender and background (gab) Strategy: a) The program seeks to highlight the opportunities available to address issues raised under the explicit gender and background focus. b) The program will at all times integrate better resource use practices, environment mindfulness issues and income generation activities as part of the agenda towards a greener conscience and dignity affirming practices.
