AFRICAN WOMEN: REALIZING AFRICA’S ECONOMIC POTENTIAL 24 – 26 July 2014, Lusaka, Zambia Invitation to the Third African Women’s Economic Summit, 24-26 July, Lusaka It is with great pleasure that we invite you to attend the Third African Women’s Economic Summit, to be held at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre (MICC) in Lusaka, Zambia, on the 24-26 July 2014. Jointly organised by New Faces New Voices and the African Development Bank and hosted by the Government of Zambia, the Bank of Zambia and other partners, this initiative will bring together a high-level audience of African decision-makers and thought leaders from around the continent to discuss the role of African women in realizing and sustaining Africa’s economic potential. Africa is geared for growth. It is home to one-eighth of the world’s population and home to some of the fastest growing economies in the world. However, this rise in economic growth and wealth has not necessarily translated into reduced levels of inequality for the vast majority of African people, especially women. This raises an important question about the role of African women in realising and sustaining Africa’s economic potential. As Africa prospers, key stakeholders in the financial sector must ensure that economic growth strategies include greater participation of women as consumers, business leaders, investors’ and decision-makers. Participants will be drawn from financial services providers, regulatory bodies, think-tanks, advocacy groups, business and professional organisations, prominent business men and women, and government leaders.
