AFTER THE WORKOUT - AFTERBURN (EPOC) Those of you who get my mail outs will get an expanded version of this post soon. Well all you have to do is engage in some resistance exercise and your metabolic rate (energy burn) will increase and stay increased at a higher level for up to 6 hours!!!! That’s right burning excess weight all day. This is referred to in scientific circles as EPOC (Excess Post-exercise Oxygen Consumption –affectionately known as AFTERBURN) Cardio will also burn excess weight but it only lasts for about 2hours or so before returning to normal levels- so resistance is a better return on your energy expenditure eh? EPOC will be explained more in the expanded article WHAT DO YOU DO WHILE YOU ARE WORKING OUT? If you are like many people you listen to music,…..how’s this for an idea? I listen to books- all the ones I don’t have time to read and as a result I have “read over 40 books in the last two months!!! Everything from self development Psych books to “How to Win Friends and Influence People” I have two Shuffle Nanos on one there are about 2000 songs and on the other over 100 books downloaded from Audible FEED THE BODY ,FEED THE MIND “NO BRAIN NO GAIN!”
