AFTER all had been said and done, controversial agent Lawrence - TopicsExpress

AFTER all had been said and done, controversial agent Lawrence Chongson is now offering the olive branch to Rain or Shine management. Combative and forceful in his previous interviews, Chongson told Spin.ph he is looking forward to a ceasefire and immediate resolution to the messy contract saga involving his player, Paul Lee. It was Chongson who had faced the media when Lee made the stunning request to be traded - a stand the Gilas Pilipinas player supported in one overseas call to Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao from Spain. But Chongson sounded a lot more subdued on Wednesday, saying he is now ready to ‘bury the hatchet. “Just to be able to salvage the cause or para ma-salvage hopefully yung mga bagay na pwede pang ma-salvage… yes! Ceasefire na,” said the outspoken former University of the East Red Warrios coach. Chongson also bared had a short talk with Rain or Shine co-owner Raymund Yu, saying he has since decided to take up the advice of the young Asian Coatings Incorporated top executive. “As a form of remedy to break the impasse between us and the Rain or Shine organization… ako na mismo ang nagbigay pugay kay team owner Raymund Yu at humihingi ako ng payo mula sa kanya kung ano ba ang magandang hakbang o remedy dito sa sitwasyon,” he said. “At ang naging advice nga niya eh is for Paul to go talk to coach Yeng (Guiao), as a form of ice breaker… na siya naming sinunod naman,” added the flamboyant Tanduay Corporation head of basketball operations. Chongson bared that he personally decided not to join Lee in his meeting with Guiao on Monday morning at the Nega Gym in Greenhills, because he deemed it might send a negative connotation. “Yung paghaharap naman nina Paul at coach Yeng kahapon eh sa pagkakaalam ko eh hindi naman ako kasali dun,” he said. “Siguro sa pag-draft na lang ako ng contract haharap. Asked if Lee is ready to sign a contract with Rain or Shine even if he reportedly failed to show up for a contract-signing on Wednesday, the long-haired coach said: Supposedly. Lets just put it at that. In a separate interview, Guiao bared that Lee and the team are now in the process of healing after a stormy negotiation that nearly got out of hand. “Kaunting reconnection lang yan. Ma-re-establish lang ulit yung relationship na medyo nasira o na-damage, after that… Ok na yun. Paperworks na lang,” said Guiao. “Kagabi nag-usap na sila nina Mommy Yu (mother of team co-owner Raymund Yu). Ok na yun,” he said. Guiao also revealed how Lee twice guaranteed him about his plans to re-sign with Rain or Shine. “Actually, dalawang beses kami nag-usap tungkol sa plano nga niya na yan na mag re-sign sa amin, kasi nung nasa Spain na siya, tumawag siya ulit para sabihin na pipirma na siya,” claimed Guiao. “Iba pa yun sa unang tawag niya na humihingi siya ng trade… Kasi sa ikalawang tawag niya sinabi na pipirma na nga raw siya. Tapos nung nag-usap kami kahapon, inulit niya yun. Yun ang latest,” added the outspoken mentor. “Hindi ko sinabi sa media yun na pipirma na siya nuong nasa Spain pa siya… kasi gusto ko na siya na mismo ang magsalita… kaya nga kahit ano lumalabas sa press… hindi ko na binibigyan masyado ng weight… kasi may usapan talaga kami ni Paul,” stressed Guiao.
