AGM Raises Awareness on Infant Disability & Cleanliness Drives In Arpana’s villages, women are taking the lead in health, social and financial matters. The Federation of 308 Self Help Groups, Jan Shakti Mahila Sangthan, formed by Arpana, held their Annual General Meeting in Araipura Village on 2nd November. More than 1200 women from 65 villages participated. After presenting the Financial Report of the Federation, they presented a program to: 1. create awareness and reduce disabilities among children 2. streamline cleanliness programs in the villages. Awareness creation about disabilities was created when the women presented a short play about the causes of disability among children and newborn babies, how these children suffer and how this can be prevented. In the second play the women showed the importance of cleanliness and how it helps prevent diseases. It further showed that women of the groups can run the cleanliness drive and, thus, keep their villages clean. These 1200 women took a pledge to adopt hygienic and sanitary practices and contribute towards the ongoing cleanliness program in the country.
