AGRA wrote "AGRA Ltd furthermore delivers services to the farming community relating to input materials for agronomic, horticultural and livestock production systems; thereby also abiding by the Namibian regulatory framework safeguarding consumers, producers and processors interests. In doing so, the public often enquires about the national genetically modified organism (GMO) policy and whether AGRA Ltd is trading in production inputs that could contain GMOs." Without answering this question they proceed and say that they source pesticides from the "USA based company MONSANTO". Well there is nothing that suggest that AGRA has a track record of protecting consumers. Besides NCT is highly suspicious of the agenda and that the intention is to probably intimidate consumers and justify the need to have GMOs flooding the Namibian market. NCT also suspects animal feed sold by their competitor contains GMO due to their utterances. Even chicken feed for chicken produced about 30kms from Whk is suspected of containing GMO. However most worrying is that humans are actually eating GMO through top score, Ace and white star. Top score and White star made no mention of GMO on their packaging until NCT discovered that their maize indeed contains GMO and consumers are not warned. Therefore as far as NCT is concerned any association with GMO is severely frowned upon due to their secrets on issues that may affect consumer health. Thus we would be happy to talk about GMO and Monsanto, but preferably at our platform. NCT is considering in the mean time to put the letter from the Agronomic Board on its website as well as the GMO tests certificates for above maize. What do you think about this?
