AIA Central Oklahomas Response to the Downtown Design Review Committees Decision today. “We stand by our position. Stage Center is an internationally important piece of architecture and we endorse the continued use or adaptive reuse of the building. The Downtown Design Review Committee met and heard both sides of the argument and studied the supporting documentation. After doing so the Downtown Design Review Committee voted 3-2 to approve demolition. AIA Central Oklahoma is disappointed with the outcome of the vote and feels this action will result in an irreplaceable loss to the architectural community and the city at large. However, we as an organization do not intend to appeal the decision.”
