MdO. - SAMAKA ( Samahan ng mga Magulang na may Anak na may Kapansanan sa Lungsod ng Calapan)- Parent Core Group in Calapan City celebrated its first NDPR last August 8, 2014 @ Adriatico Memorial School Gym. It highlighted the importance of providing the Persons With Disabilities (PWD) sector with programs and activities that give assistance and aid to differently-abled persons during the city’s celebration of National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation. The observance of the occasion is mandated by Proclamation No. 1870, which encourages every citizen of the country to “take active responsibility in the upliftment of the economic and social conditions of PWDs of our society.” This year’s NDPR Week carries the theme, “Talino at PaninindiganngmgaTaong may Kapansanan: PasaportesaKaunlaran (Intelligence and Strong Conviction of People with Disabilities: Passport to Progress). The kickoff event will be a city motorcade along its main thoroughfares.The motorcade sought to increase public awareness on the rights and opportunities of the PWD sector, as well as encourage every citizen to take part in the issues and problems of the disabled. AMS Principal welcomes all the participants in AMS, who came from the city’s 62 barangays and assured his support to all the PWDS. “Mayor Arnan Panaligan gives an inspirational message, he does not disregard people who have vulnerabilities. People with vulnerabilities are those who should be given importance within the community. ” adding that his administration will take the necessary actions to protect the rights of persons with disabilities. He also expounded on the administrations focus on providing the citys PWDs with special attention through the Golden Health Card, giving medical assistance & other services. Also in attendance were Mrs. Felp Gavino, , president of the AKAPIN Orienal Mindoro, expresses her full support & commended SAMAKA of Calapan for the well planned & success of their first NDPR. Moreover, Fernandez requested from the group the creation of a local database that will contain all the PWDs in Dagupan, along with necessary information about each PWD. City Social Welfare and Development Office head Juvy Bahia, RSW, acknowledged the actions of SAMAKA and has undertaken many activities such as PWD Orientation & Organization, training & seminars and ensuring that the welfare of the citys PWD are constantly looked into.“Because of Mayor Belen Fernandez, we had a series of activities for this year’s celebrations… the rights of Dagupan’s persons with disabilities have been realized,” De . Among the activities held at the AMS Gym were Medical Check Ups, Registration of PWD ID, Consultative Dialogue which was spearheaded by NORFIL Foundation, Inc., Project In-Charge Mam Clariz Fetezio, made clarification and stimulate awareness on RA 9442 of the Magna Carta for PWDs. Other activities such as Games for all the PWDS and also with their Parents; all through out, the students of SPED BEED of the City College of Calapan thru their Administrator, Dr. Colocar; initiated all the games and assisted all the PWDs on the whole day affair; many thanks also to Gela Avena & their members; thanks for volunteering all your time & effort; we couldn have done it, without you. Empasize also that PWDs should not consider his/her disability as an impediment in reaching his/her dreams. She expressed gratitude to NORFIL Foundation, Inc. for their long-standing commitment on providing PWDs with a better future. All the organized PWD Officers of the 13 barangays and who also take oath of office with Mayor Arnan Panaligan. Give special recognition to all the SPED Centers of AMS-their Principal Alfnso Galicha, SPED Chairperson-Rechel Dalumpines, Teachers like Hermarie Salazar, Rosemarie Lomibao (all SAMAKA Honorary Members), Aileen Timtim, Socorro De Guzman, Ma.
