ALERT FOR MONDAY...PLEASE LIKE AND SHARE SNOW AND ICE SITUATION SETTING UP FOR MONDAY OVERRUNNING PRECIP COMES IN TO BORDERLINE COLD AIR MASS FOR MONDAY AND MONDAY NIGHT AREAS: NEW YORK CITY, LONG ISLAND, CENTRAL AND NORTHERN NEW JERSEY, SOUTHEAST NY STATE, NORTHEASTERN PENNSYLVANIA AND COASTAL CONNECTICUT After what will be a cold and dry weekend the next weather system will make its way toward us Monday. The difficult thing about this forecast is that the weekend cold air mass will be moving out while another cold air mass approaches. In between moisture will be moving northward. The problem will lie with the coast where low level temperatures will be very close to 32 through the day Monday and that is complicated by the fact that during Monday afternoon and evening cold air will be poised to drain southward. Low level temperatures of course will be critical in determining whether we may see freezing rain and sleet over parts of the area before going over to snow. Inland it should cold for some ice and then snow for sure but it is one of those situations where 1 or 2 degrees will make a huge difference.
